Honda has announced the new 2023 Honda CR-V compact crossover

The 2023 Honda CR-V Shows Face, Interior, and Hybrid Badges.

As gas prices surge, Honda is about to introduce an updated hybrid model of its best-selling SUV.
The compact crossover will be fully unveiled later this summer.

We've seen patent renderings of the upcoming new 2023 Honda CR-V compact crossover already, and we even made our own renderings of a realistic depiction of the next-gen SUV for you, but today, Honda has officially announced the updated model, with a few new real teaser images of it finally. The CR-V is going slightly more rugged this time around with its tweaked design, and Honda is promising more sophistication, increased versatility, and a sportier driving experience thanks to an updated hybrid setup.

We have a few educated guesses for the sixth-gen CR-V will go, based on what we know so far and these new teasers. Thanks to the previously mentioned patent release with images, we think the CR-V will grow in length to accommodate more passenger and cargo room. We stitched the image of the front end together below for an idea of what more than half the new CR-V will look like, but note that the width and lens effects are likely "off," and the production model might not be so girthy.

What we can see for sure from the teasers that the new gen will also adopt slicker headlights, and maintains the signature pair of vertical taillights running up the tailgate. Under the hood, we expect the current powertrains to carry over, potentially with slight performance tweaks, and we know from Honda the hybrid system will be more "advanced" this time around.

An image of the new interior has also shown up on the Honda website, with a lot of notes clearly taken from the Honda Civic and new, smaller HR-V SUV interiors. There's a honeycomb pattern dashboard hiding the air vents, with dual-zone climate controls, a decent-sized screen (likely the Civic's available 9.0-inch unit) with a real volume knob, a fully digital driver display, and interesting orange contrast stitching on the black seats and steering wheel. Where have we seen orange stitching before on a Honda product...? Lately, it's made an appearance on the off-road-themed Passport TrailSport model—perhaps indicating that rugged trim level is destined for the new CR-V. On the center console, it looks like there's a phone charging pad, a couple USB ports, and what looks to be a hill descent control button next to the shifter.

Honda has proclaimed 2022 to be the "Year of the SUV," on account of several new SUVs (like the smaller HR-V) debuting soon, though taking a look at its sales sheet, you could call every year that. Still, it's all to hype up new models like the CR-V, which is Honda's most popular and best-selling vehicle in its lineup. So far, all we know for certain from Honda is that the new generation is "on the way," to be officially revealed in full later "this summer."
