The reason behind the strange yellow aircraft flying around Ibadan, Oyo State capital and it’s metropolis has been revealed. By: Oyo Affairs Recently, some residents of Ibadan have been in a state of fear and panic, over a strange yellow aircraft flying at a very low level in major areas of the city which has called the attention of the masses. A claim by a netizen further stated that he is not sure if anyone who stays in Ibadan had not sighted the yellow aircraft. A post on social media clearing the air and allaying the fears of the masses noted that the aircraft is part of the initiative of the Federal Ministry of Mine and Steel in actualising a project. “DON’T BE SCARED OVER STRANGE AIRCRAFT FLYING AT LOW LEVEL IN IBADAN”. A circular was released by the Ministry of Mine and Steel Development months back, notifying the general public that the Mineral Sector Support for Economic Diversification (MINDIVER) project, a World Bank assisted project under the Ministry of Mine an

ZeroAvia will file for certification in 2023 and expects to obtain certified commercial routes by 2025. By:  Deena Theresa ZeroAvia successfully carries out the first flight test of its Dornier 228 19-seat testbed in Gloucestershire, UK, marking a pivotal milestone in ZeroAvia’s HyFlyer II program. ZeroAvia   ZeroAvia, a leader in zero-emission aviation, successfully completed the first flight of a 19-seat Dornier 228 testbed aircraft that was converted to run partly on hydrogen fuel cells. The flight took place in the UK, marking a pivotal milestone in ZeroAvia's HyFlyer II, a program backed by the UK Government that targets the development of a 600kW powertrain to support 9-19 seat aircraft worldwide with zero-emission flight. A full-size prototype hydrogen-electric powertrain was retrofitted on the left wing of the aircraft, and it operated in tandem with a single Honeywell TPE-331 stock engine on the right, according to release. The latest achievement follows ZeroAv

A 17-year-old engineer's magnet-free motor prototype could make electric vehicles more sustainable.

His new prototype had 39 percent greater torque over a traditional motor. By:  Chris Young Robert Sansone with his motor. Society for Science   A young engineer called Robert Sansone won the first prize, and winnings of $75,000, at this year's Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), the world's largest international high school STEM competition. As per  Smithsonian Magazine , his new invention could one day transform the electric vehicle (EV) industry. It is a synchronous reluctance motor with improved performance over previous models. Typically these types of motors are used for pumps and fans, but they aren't powerful enough for EVs. Sansone's new model improves the torque of these motors, which don't require costly and often unethically sourced rare-earth metals. A promising young engineer Sansone, who is only 17 years old, estimates he has completed approximately 60 engineering projects in his spare time. The Florida-based invent

A Guide to Common Dashboard Warning Lights

Knowing what these symbols mean can directly impact your (and your car's) safety. By:  Nick Yekikian Like many things, cars are not perfect. It is fair to assume something is eventually going to break or stop working no matter what sort of car you buy, and no matter how reliable it is rumored to be. Lucky for you, your car's proverbial brain will figure out an impending problem before you do and send you a warning more often than not. There are sensors and warning lights in new cars that alert you to  tire pressure levels  and the washer fluid level. But do you know what all those little icons on the dashboard mean? If not, we've got you covered. We've put together this guide on 10 of the most common car warning lights. Fog Lights We'll start with a dash light that isn't technically a warning light. The fog light symbol looks a lot like the one used for the regular headlights, albeit with a squiggly line in front of it instead of three lines that loo
